Press Release

AMSTERDAM and Tel Aviv – 19th August 2019 – KPN, a Dutch landline, and mobile telecommunications company and JpU™, the leader in virtualized and programmable mobile cores, today announced that JpU’s HypeCore™ is now available for developers wanting to leverage KPN’s API Store to build next-generation, use-case driven IoT applications.

The KPN API Store is an API marketplace enabling innovation of disruptive technologies by providing access to API building blocks in the fields of communication, identity, security, connectivity, and others. With the addition of JpU’s HyperCore, developers now have a robust software suite to build fully customized IoT deployments that can flexibly leverage the mobile network with 2G, 3G, 4G/LTE, and LTE-M connectivity.

“We are pleased to announce our partnership with JPU on the IoT proposition, which includes programmable SIMs and connectivity management APIs,” said Wouter Van Schaik, Lead API Store at KPN Open Innovation Hub. “Keeping the customer demands in mind, we wanted to invest in IoT initiatives. You might be thinking, “My devices are already connected to the internet, so why programmable SIMs and APIs.” Imagine the possibilities when your devices are connected to each other. IoT is about devices having the ability to sense, communicate, control, and interact with other devices. We are happy that this proposition will be available in the KPN API Store, and customers can benefit from it. “

“This is an important partnership with KPN that can lead to a variety of disruptive, new IoT applications for the enterprise and consumer marketplace served by the KPN network,” said Jonathan Schwartz, chief executive officer for JpU. “Developers can now leverage the strength and flexibility of their mobile network with JpU’s rich set of APIs and help organizations build innovative positions in the Cellular IoT and Open Telecommunications market. Both companies are focused on making IoT easier and accessible for all enterprises regardless of their size and capabilities, and the availability of simple APIs to control the mobile network can enable a variety of IoT use cases across many different market verticals.”

With the addition of JpU’s HyperCore™ APIs, developers can perform IP network customization, create security profiles, manage the life cycle of the SIM cards, profile and access mobile services bills online. All these services will be effective on the mobile network as soon as the SIM card is booted into a device and made available on the mobile network without any interaction with the mobile operator technical resources.  JPU’s goal is to work with KPN to extend the set APIs and bring additional capabilities to the developer’s community, including use cases that leverage self-service IPSec VPN, vLANs with NAT port forwarding rules, Firewall rules, and IoT SMS.
